population. Of these, roughly one-third are unaware they have the
disease. In addition, another 54 million people in the U.S. have
pre-diabetes.

diabetes.
- Nearly 18.3% of the United States population aged 60 and older
has diabetes.
- People with diabetes are two to four times more likely to have
heart disease or suffer a stroke.
